5K, 5K, 5K!

We are very excited here in the Casey Household.

We have officially signed up for our first 5K!

Shawn will be running my sister & her son (and whoever else would like to join)
I will be walking with Liam, hopefully Aine (as long as she is cleared by the Drs), possibly my brother-in-law and his son (and whoever else would like join).

We put some feelers out for a cool team name & were given the suggestion of Aine's Avengers. I really liked this for I feel it fits - but.... having a 2 year old, things often change (ALOT!). So... that being said, this morning I was going to send off a request to get our team name added to the roster when Mr. Liam said I like Aine's Army. Well.... Coming from his mouth - it sounded Perfect & Stuck!

So, we are now OFFICIALLY - AINE'S ARMY!!
We will be walking in her honor on May 5th & would love to welcome you to join us & help support the cause of CHD.

Following is a link to the information if you would like to find out more about the walk/run.

Sleep Study

Aine went through a sleep study last week and we found out (we expected this) that she has sleep apnea, which is causing her to de-stat, have rapid breathing, and have to wake herself up to come out of it.

The good news is that her brain is responding correctly & waking her up to remedy the situation, but it still isn't good because she doesn't get the quality of sleep that she should be getting which means, longer or more frequent naps, restless sleep and irritability :(

The sleep study doctor is going to talk to Aine's cardiologist & ENT doctor to discuss what should be done. We are looking at some of the following options: Increasing her oxygen flow at night, Bi-pap or C-pap machine. Guess we'll see what the outsome is.

I'm really excited though because Liam starts his new swimming class on Saturday. We're hoping that he is in class with some other kids, but we won't know that either until Saturday. He's excited & can't stop looking at his NEW swim suit!

More Teeth - Oh MY

Well,
It is official! Aine is getting 2 more teeth in that little mouth of hers.
Since she doesn't eat anything by mouth & doesn't suck/chew on a plug they are taking a little longer than I would have expected to come in, but they are making their way through slowly. She has the two lower ones completely through & will "soon" have 4 on the bottom! I'm wondering when the top are going to start coming ??

She has been off oxygen overnight for the last 2 nights & we are currently working on night 3. I don't want to throw a wrench into anything, but she has only de-stated once & I don't believe that it was accurate - so I'm not thinking I'm going to count it.

Shawn & Liam spent most of the weekend outside & then today we decided to venture out as a family and take a walk around the neighborhood. It was kinda scary, and I will admit, I had Aine completely covered. She has to wear hats because with the meds she is on, she can easily burn, but I look back & it was probably over kill.... but hey - we got her out & she was HUGE EYED the whole time we walked. Then... she slept most of the day away & is sleeping again.

Liam & I spent the rest of the sunshine outside playing baseball & bubbles. It was soo fun to watch him chase the bubbles around the yard yelling "COME BACK" "COME BACK" It is a day I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Since I'm a goof & mis-placed my cord once again, you will have to wait to watch, but Liam is now officially riding his trike on his own! He even peddled it up 2/3rds of our driveway! If you've seen it, you know it's steep.

Aine is proving to be as stubborn as her.... (hmmm.... I'd say her dad, but I think you'd all laugh) - so... mom.
I showed her what it would be like to crawl to her dad (she was doing the arm motions, I was just propelling her forward) & now she is determined that she is going to do it on her own. It is really cute to watch her try to dig her cubby little fingers into the rug I brought up and try to get her brother. Her biggest problem is that she gets tired - so in her frustration does the toddler thing & bangs her head into the floor then starts to cry :(

Even though we didn't make it anywhere this year for St. Patrick's Day we were all shining our colors in one way or another & enjoying it for all that it was worth.

We're happy & blessed that we got to spend a holiday at home together. We know there will be more & look forward to each and everyone of them.

So... That being said - HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Blessing to all &
Special Blessings to:
Dr. Bryant, Dr. Lohr, Ms. Susan & the rest of Aine's medical team for making this possible.

A little fun

There are soo many things going on lately that it seems hard to remember how much time has actually passed. Hours go by, then days, then before we know it years.
Just this week I have had 4 people comment to me that they can't believe the kids will have their birthdays soon & that Aine is amazingly going to be 1 years old!
Our little princess has Amazed everyone!

Liam continues to throw little surprises at us & has discovered the joy of doing something that will trigger our disapproval only to turn around & find a way to make us laugh.

He has found soo many ways to make us proud - he was swimming with only a noodle on Saturday and announced to Shawn at tumbling class that he didn't want to play with another boy. When asked why - he responded "because he causes trouble" :) He got 4 checks on his shirt last night at tumbling (checks from this teacher are Good) and he got to put a check on the teacher at the end of class!

Aine has gone through a growth spurt. The numbers are up in the air right now, because there is alot of "clucking" about if the measurements are right or not & that the chart looks funny. To me - numbers don't matter, what matters is that she's bigger. 2 weeks ago she was in 3 month clothes, last week we switched her clothes to 3-6 & 6 month clothes, and on Tuesday I put her into a 9 month onsie and she looked like she was going to be too big for that. So.... that being said, growth spurt ----- confirmed :) Yeah Baby Girl!!!

Shawn Back still has a tiny little scar on it that is holding tight, but hopefully soon it will be fully healed. We're hoping the weather will decide what it's going to do so people can decide what they should do with their cars & we can get the kids outside a lot more.

On that note, Aine got to go outside on that beautiful day! Since she is off oxygen during the day we don't have to worry about the tank getting cold. I put her in the swing & she fell asleep within minutes. Liam and I sang Old McDonald the whole time, then he mowed the snow.
