I heard a funny, enlighting, and what will be a very memorable story for all :)
My nephew is on the cross country team and is doing very well. He and his friends were at a meet at decided to go on an adventure collecting golf balls from the pond. After they found some, they found a ball washer & lost track of time. An older "team member" came to inform them their race was going to start in a minute. Being 7th graders, they thought this was a funny joke and slowly walked up the hill to go to their race - well to their surprise they heard the gun fire. OOOPs!!! Missed the race!
They did the right thing and informed the coach that they missed their race. She told them they would have to run on the JV team. Ooops! The JV team doesn't run 1.5 miles, they run 3 miles!!! Guess that's one way to see what the kids can do & boy did he prove himself. 24 minutes!!! I am soo proud of him!
Now is when the realization hits - double edged sword - WOW!!! That was a great idea!
So, lesson learned??? I don't know the answer to that, but I do know that thinking outside the box is a good way to set an example, drill a point through, and use as a teaching tool and its good to hear of others thinking outside the box for a positive outcome :)
